First things first

The incredible weather we’ve had around here has me a bit distracted – I forgot to finish documenting our trip to Chicago.  Kyle and I had a blast there with the boys.  They are amazing travelers – we are very lucky, because we like to travel, too.

On our second day in the city we had planned to take a bus from our hotel to the Shedd  Aquarium.   The morning dawned bright and sunny, albeit windy, and Kyle talked me into ditching the bus idea in favor of walking to the Shedd along the lakefront through Grant Park.  I was afraid it would tire out the boys’ legs before the day even began, but we agreed we could always grab a cab if we needed to.  The walk was beautiful and the boys terrorized a few geese along the way.

The aquarium was fun and the boys most enjoyed watching a diver hang out in the reef tank as the sharks swam past him.  Pea was overly concerned that the anaconda we saw had no head (it was behind a rock).

After about 3 hours watching fish, the kids were ready to move on, so we ventured back in the direction of the car.  We took a few breaks along the way to roll down hills and eat snacks, but they walked the whole way back.

We had parked underneath Millenium Park, so I talked the boys into stopping at the Cloud Gate sculpture to snap some pictures before we headed home.

Our boys walked more than 3 miles that day, not including walking around at the Shedd.  Not surprisingly, they were unconscious before we got out of the city.

LOVE the pictures! Chicago sounds like a fun city. We love to travel too so maybe we will get there someday. So glad your boys enjoyed their days in the city!
