Southern Wisconsin Airfest 2012

May 30, 2012

I’ve always thought an airshow would make me cry tears of boredom, but Kyle had tickets through work and the boys love watching airplanes, so it was worth a shot.

Right when we arrived, a Canadian pilot lifted the boys into the cockpit of the first airplane a Canadian jet pilot trains in.

This got Tea excited and he was very interested in taking pictures with his own camera.  While we got to climb inside this (HUGE!) refueling aircraft, the real highlight was the air demos.

The pilot of this PT-17 Stearman is a local woman.  Stunt pilots must be insane, but her acrobatics and airplane were beautiful.

The boys loved racing up to the fence to watch each parachuter from the Golden Knights land.

I know nothing about airplanes (the planes are only labeled here because I looked them up when we got home), but I loved it anyway, since I got to practice taking pictures as they screamed by.

We were really glad we had ear protection for us and the boys.  The jets were loud!

While my ignorance about airplanes had me doing the smile-and-nod a few times when pilots would tell us about airspeed and horsepower and whatnot, I’m really glad we went – we all had a fantastic time.
